По данным AppleInsider, Apple рассматривает возможность изготовления деталей корпусов будущих моделей MacBook Air из углеродного волокна, желая уменьшить массу ноутбука.

По слухам, в Купертино недовольны слишком большой массой MacBook Air, который был представлен в начале этого года как самый тонкий ноутбук в истории. Использование углеродного волокна, по мнению компании, поможет существенно уменьшить массу устройства, составляющую у текущей модели 1,36 кг.

Углеродное волокно является очень легким и прочным материалом, а главным его недостатком считается высокая стоимость применения. Тем не менее, по данным AppleInsider, инженеры Apple рассматривают возможность замены нижней алюминиевой крышки корпуса, являющейся одним из самых массивных элементов MacBook Air, аналогом, изготовленным из углеродных волокон, что поможет снизить массу ноутбука на 100 грамм. Верхняя же часть корпуса, выполненная по технологии unibody, останется алюминиевой.

По даным источника веб-сайта, новая модель MacBook Air с элементами, изготовленными из углеродного волокна, может быть выпущена в следующем году.
