В оформлении накопителей глянцевая отделка корпусов сочетается с искусственной кожей.<br /><br />Расположив контроллер USB внутри накопителя на жестких магнитных дисках, инженерам Samsung удалось сделать модели серии S меньше по габаритам, чем похожие продукты других производителей. Кроме того, это положительно сказалось на весе и энергопотреблении устройств. Дополнительную экономию обеспечивает функция перехода в спящий режим, активизируемая при отсутствии обращений к винчестеру в течение десяти минут.<br /><br />К другим особенностям внешних накопителей Samsung серии S можно отнести функцию автоматического резервного копирования и технологию SecretZone, защищающую данные с помощью шифрования (AES-128 и AES-256). Доступ к информации, записанной в накопителе, можно дополнительно ограничить с помощью пароля. Быстро оценить размер свободного места в накопителе позволяет специальный индикатор.<br /><br />Внешние винчестеры S2 Portable выпускаются в вариантах объемом 160, 250, 320 и 500 ГБ. Более компактные модели S1 Mini доступны в вариантах объемом 80, 120 и 160 ГБ. Покупатель сможет выбрать один из четырех цветов корпуса: черный, белый, красный и коричневый. Поставки новинок начнутся в текущем квартале. <br />
