Штат заводов составляет около 15 тыс. человек. <br /><br />По сообщению источника, продажа связана с убыточностью подразделения. Завершение сделки ожидается в конце 2008 г. <br /><br />Согласно IDC, компания Western Digital является вторым по величине производителем магнитных накопителей вслед за Seagate. Японская Fujitsu по объемам продаж занимает шестое место с долей рынка 7,1%. Доля Western Digital составляет 22,5%. Даже после объединения компании в сумме будут занимать меньшую часть рынка по сравнению с той частью, которую занимает Seagate, – 35%. <br /><br />
