Пожалуй, самая заметная нестыковка в мире современных технологий - раздельное существование интернета и телевидения. Потребители покупают новейшие громадные телевизоры высокой четкости (HDTV) - и независимо от этого просматривают все больше видеосюжетов на интернет-ресурсах YouTube, Hulu и iTunes. Эти два направления в конце концов должны объединиться, хотя пока люди редко смотрят видео из интернета на экране телевизоров, несмотря на все усилия Microsoft, Apple и других компаний.
Sony и Roku объединяют интернет и ТВ

Очередную попытку достичь конвергенции предприняли корпорации Sony и Roku, выпустившие специальные телевизионные приставки. Sony предлагает приставку Bravia Internet Video Link стоимостью $300. Это устройство совместимо лишь с телевизорами Sony стандарта HDTV. Подключив его к телеприемнику и одновременно к домашней сети с выходом в интернет, вы увидите на экране новое меню, в котором можно выбрать любой из множества источников контента, включая YouTube, Yahoo, Blip. TV, Sports Illustrated, AOL, Wired, сайты CBS и Showtime. Установить и настроить эту систему нетрудно, хотя придется разобраться с целым набором кабелей. Функции WiFi у приставки нет, соединение с телевизором осуществляется через HDMI-кабель.

Я тестировал Bravia с помощью компактного светодиодного (OLED) телевизора, но можно использовать и модели с гораздо большим экраном, главное - чтобы они были производства Sony. У приставки нет собственного пульта, она управляется пультом от телевизора, что зачастую неудобно. К тому же доступный в интернете контент оказался, на мой взгляд, не очень качественным.

Компания Roku выпустила более простое устройство - Netflix Player, совместимое с большинством моделей телевизоров. Подключается оно с помощью обычных телевизионных кабелей (как видеомагнитофон), но можно использовать и HDMI-кабель. В отличие от Bravia здесь предусмотрено как проводное, так и беспроводное соединение с интернетом, есть и свой пульт. Качество изображения зависит от вашей модели телевизора и скорости обмена данными с сетью. Приставка стоит всего $100, но для работы вы должны подписаться на услуги сервиса online-видеопроката Netflix. Чтобы настроить программу показа, необходимо на компьютере составить список, выбрав нужные позиции в предлагаемом меню из 12 000 фильмов и телешоу. Приставка позволяет работать с сигналом высокого разрешения, но пока сервис Netflix не показывает фильмов HDTV.

Итак, приставка Sony обеспечивает более широкий выбор источников контента, но ограничивает вас в выборе телевизора, продукт Roku подключается к любому телевизору, но показывает контент лишь из одного источника. В Россию пока ни та ни другая приставка не поставляется.
