Многие с недоверием отнеслись к заявлениям Toshiba, будто бы компания сможет предоставить продукт на основе DVD, который составит конкуренцию Blu-Ray- проигрывателям.

Но это состоялось: Toshiba заявляет о DVD-плеере XD-E500 как о полноценном конкуренте Blu-Ray, и это при цене в $150. Давайте разберемся, в чем дело, не блефует ли Японская компания.

В основе проигрывателя лежит новая разработка - технология eXtended Detail Enhancement (XDE) – устройство, отвечающее за апконверт (апскейл), которое должно покорить всех и в первую очередь тех, кто и раньше смотрел увеличенную DVD-картинку на большом FullHD экране. К слову, во время демонстрации, XD-E500 стоял лицом к лицу с ноунеймовым апскейлером за $70, при этом выводимая картинка новинкой от Toshiba действительно выглядела чуть более приятно.


Что ж, возможно стоило компании поставить рядом и Blu-Ray проигрыватель, иначе пока заявления компании выглядят несколько неправдоподобно. Тем не менее, последнее слово за покупателями, цена, ведь, позволяет на себе опробовать старания маркетологов Toshiba.
