С первого взгляда ничего нового, 25Гб на один слой. Но производитель обещает 16 таких слоев и размышляет о совместимости устройств.

Пока говорится о том, что первый прототип будет годен лишь для чтения, однако разработка обновленного носителя продолжается, что дает право надеяться на появление возможности записи и перезаписи.

Pioneer так же заявил об обратной совместимости старых устройств с новым носителем – так как спецификации и используемые линзы полностью идентичны.
Однако после выхода Английского пресс-релиза было высказано предположение, что усовершенствование оптического механизма всё-таки понадобится для чтения информации с нового носителя.

Так или иначе, все точки над i будут расставлены 13 июля, в этот день нам обещают всё рассказать в деталях.
