Американская компания Delkin Devices, производитель аксессуаров, батарей и носителей информации, объявила о выпуске первого диска формата Blu-ray BD-R с гарантией 200 лет. В компании уверяют, что записанная на диск информация будет оставаться читаемой в течение не менее двух веков.

Конкретные методы достижения столь длительного срока эксплуатации не сообщаются, однако упоминаются некоторые технологии, которые позволили защитить диск от губительного ультрафиолетового излучения, высокой температуры и повышенной влажности. А специальный слой защищает носитель от механических повреждений вроде царапин, а также от появления отпечатков пальцев и прилипания грязи.

Диск вмещает 25 ГБ данных и поддерживает скорость записи 4x, то есть полная запись диска может быть выполнена за 23 минуты.

Носитель уже поступил в продажу по цене $27 за штуку или $575 за пачку из 25 дисков.
