Как сообщается в последнем отчете от Screen Digest, на данный момент в Европе каждая пятая семья имеет, по крайней мере, один HD ready телевизор и только 1% из них (порядка одного миллиона) смотрят HD телевидение. <br />К 2012 году ожидается, что 85% семейств будут иметь HD телевизор и только 20% из них будут подключены к HD вещанию. <br />Основной проблемой, тормозящей развитие HD вещания, остается нехватка контента, особенно бесплатного эфирного контента. Трансляция HDTV все еще остается премиум услугой платных операторов. <br />Ситуация может измениться с переходом Европы в следующие несколько лет к цифровому телевидению, хотя гарантировать подобное пока сложно. Вполне возможно, что полноценное бесплатное HD телевидение появится не раньше 2015 года.
