Центр был открыт Принцем Эндрю, герцогом Йоркским, в присутствии членов местного правительства и представителей дизайнерского сообщества Великобритании.<br /><br />Задачей нового дизайн-центра LG будет являться разработка дизайна продукции для Европы, основанного на предпочтениях европейских покупателей. Кроме того, сотрудники нового центра будут адаптировать продукцию, разработанную в других странах, для европейского рынка. <br /><br />Открытие центра также отражает новую бизнес-стратегию LG, связанную с увеличением инвестиций в исследования и разработки, которые будут наращивать региональный дизайнерский потенциал. Только в 2008 г. LG инвестирует свыше $4,8 млрд. в европейские дизайнерские программы. Первым продуктом, полностью разработанным европейскими дизайнерами, станет мобильный телефон, который будет представлен в августе нынешнего года.<br />
