Все каналы сети находятся в свободном доступе и распространяются бесплатно. Инвестиции в проект составили порядка $10 млн на канал, планируемый срок его окупаемости - 3 года.<br /> <br />  Телевизионная сеть HD Media состоит из трех каналов высокой четкости. Вещание идет в стандарте DVB-S через спутник Intelsat-904, охватывающий территорию с населением около 440 млн человек.<br /><br />  Компания, появившись в ноябре 2007 г., уже заключила более 70 контрактов с кабельными, IPTV и эфирными операторами России, стран Балтии и СНГ. Они, получая сигнал со спутника, распространяют этот сигнал по своим сетям. «Сейчас в общей сложности на территории обслуживания этих операторов количество абонентов составляет около 900 тыс. человек», - комментирует генеральный директор HD Media Герасим Гадиян. По его расчетам, к лету число контрактов возрастет до 200.<br /><br />  75% контента каналов HD Media составляют покупные передачи, четверть  компания производит самостоятельно. «Мы активно производим съемки, совпадающие с тематикой каналов, - говорит Герасим Гадиян, - в ближайшее время HD Media начнет проводить прямые эфиры». Для этого компания тестирует студию виртуальной реальности HDTV. В такой студии все декорации достроены с помощью компьютерных программ, реален лишь ведущий.<br /><br />  «Согласно опросам, проведенным в США, 86% зрителей предпочли бы смотреть бесплатные каналы высокой четкости с рекламой, чем платные без рекламы», - сообщает Герасим Гадиян. Именно поэтому при создании компании было решено, что HD Media будет получать доходы от рекламы.<br /><br />  «Такая бизнес-модель может быть актуальна для России через несколько лет, - уверена аналитик ИК «Финам» Элина Юрина, - сейчас в стране насчитывается не более 30 тыс. владельцев телевизоров, обеспечивающих сигнал высокой четкости. Понятно, что это достаточно состоятельные люди, которые могут позволить себе платное телевидение и не заинтересованы в просмотре рекламы». Она считает, что после того, как HDTV станет массовой услугой, рекламная модель окажется более актуальной: «Массовый потребитель предпочтет получить бесплатный канал - просмотр рекламы для него привычен».<br /><br />  «Зарубежный опыт показывает, что эта бизнес-модель актуальна, - комментирует директор по развитию «Коминфо-Консалтинг» Евгений Соломатин, - модели, основанные на взимании  с абонентов абонентской платы либо платы за единицу потребляемой услуги, в эпоху контентных сервисов начинают быть все менее эффективны. Их все больше заменяют рекламно-субсидированные модели, к которым и относится предложение HD Media». По его словам, для развития HDTV в России есть несколько ограничений: небольшая абонентская база пользователей цифрового ТВ, отсутствие контента и абонентских устройств. «Вряд ли в ближайшие несколько лет проникновение HDTV в России превысит 1-2%», - добавил Евгений Соломатин.
