Toshiba была первой компанией, выпустившей HD рекордер, способный записывать контент высокой четкости на жесткий диск, HD диск и стандартный DVD по вашему выбору.

Правда их решение по HD записи страдает от одной проблемы – недавно умерший формат HD DVD. Теперь Mitsubishi заполняет этот пробел Blu-ray рекордерами 500GB DVR-BZ200 и 250GB DVR-BZ200. Обе модели поддерживают спецификации Blu-ray AVCREC, способны записывать до 2 часов видео Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) в формате MPEG4 AVC/H.264 на диски DVD объемом 4.7GB.

При всем этом, надо заметить, что стандарт ограничен японской системой вещания ISDB. Так что остается ждать, когда появятся другие AVCREC совместимые устройства, поддерживающие и другие стандарты.
