Иногда такие дисплеи называют еще двунаправленными. Суть этого названия в том, что дисплей не только воспроизводит для пользователя информацию, но и контролирует перемещений его глаз.<br /><br />Новый вариант миниатюрного OLED дисплея с технологией FEP поддерживает повышенное до SVGA разрешение (ранее было VGA), кроме того увеличена глубина  цвета. Фотодетектор дисплея контролирует движение глаз по инфракрасному излучению, а встроенная система управления может соответствующим образом корректировать изображение. В 2013 году прототип подобного дисплея получил престижную награду IT Innovation Award.<br /><br />"Новое поколение двунаправленных микродисплеев во многих отношениях демонстрирует скачок в совершенствовании технологии", говорит ответственный руководитель отдела FEP института Фраунгофера. Новый OLED дисплей будет демонстрироваться на ежегодной Ганноверской торговой ярмарке. Областью возможного применения OLED FEP в настоящее время являются смарт часы и другая портативная электроника.
