Это вариант технологии квантовых точек в исполнении Samsung, который призван в настоящее время стать маркетинговой вершиной.<br /><br />Samsung пока не может наладить массовое производство OLED панелей  и будет конкурировать с LG с помощью ЖК телевизоров на основе квантовых точек, которые Sony выпускает уже в течение двух лет. Новый маркетинговый план Samsung называется S UHD, модели таких телевизоров наиболее высокого класса будут использовать полный массив локального затемнения в дополнение к прецизионным источникам подсветки.<br /><br />Samsung утверждает, что его S UHD телевизоры имеют "более богатые цвета, чем обеспечивает OLED технология" и более широкую цветовую гамму, чем обычное HD видео. Цветовая гамма составляет около 90% от стандарта DCI и телевизоры могут обеспечивать повышенную в 2,5 раза пиковую яркость, по сравнению с обычными телевизорами, позволяя Samsung воспроизводить контент HDR (расширенный динамический диапазон). <br /><br />Чтобы извлечь из всех этих достоинств выгоду вы также должны иметь и видеоматериал, закодированные в соответствии с расширенными требованиями, которых в настоящее время не существует. Правда, Netflix заявляет о добавлении в прокат видео с расширенной цветовой гаммой и формат Blu-Ray 4K также поддерживает более широкую цветовую гамму, дотягивающую до требований Rec.2020, что значительно лучше, чем то, что вы видите в кинотеатрах. <br /><br />Итак, что же  означает "S"? Samsung дал некоторые намеки на пресс-конференции. Это может быть Smart (потому что Tizen), стильный (потому что изогнутый), Super (потому что 4К разрешение) и зрелищный (за счет квантовых точек). Samsung также характеризует эти телевизоры как Seductive "Соблазнительные". Но кажется, что S UHD это в основном "Ultra HD + квантовые точки + яркая подсветка + маркетинг".
