В Нью-Гэмпшире в возрасте 92 лет скончался "отец видеоигр" Ральф Баер. В 1972 была выпущена первая в мире домашняя игровая приставка Magnavox Odyssey, идею на которую Баер запатентовал 10 годами ранее. На ней можно было играть в 28 игр.<br /><br />По сообщению друга Баера, Леонарда Германа, тот скончался в ночь на 6 декабря.<br /><br />Баер также изобрел световой пистолет для своей  приставки. Всего же на его счету более 150 патентов.<br /><br />Ральф Баер получил множество профессиональных наград. В 2006 году  его наградили Национальной медалью в области технологий и инноваций. В 2010 году Ральф Баер был увековечен в Национальном зале славы для изобретателей.<br /><br />"Ральф был гениальным, фантастическим, выдающимся человеком. Ты мог проводить с ним часы, забывая, что общаешься с человеком такого преклонного возраста. В нем был энтузиазм молодого парня, и до самых последних дней он проводил столько времени, сколько это было возможно, работая над тем или иным проектом", — так написал Герман.
