Автор петиции Рид Морано хочет, чтобы производители прекратили использовать "плавное движение" в настройках по умолчанию на современных телевизорах. Это разрушает реальное впечатление от фильма, который уже не соотвествует оригинальному замыслу создателей. И Рид прав.<br /><br />Подобные изменения оригинальной картинки под воздействием технологии вставки (интерполяции) промежуточных кадров часто упоминаются как <a href="http://www.hdtv.ru/articles/13762-chto-takoe-effekt-mylnoy-opery.html" >"эффект мыльной оперы"</a>. <br /> <br />Производители стараются замаскировать недостатки воспроизведения в динамичных сюжетах за счет применения разнообразных технологий искусственной обработки видеосигналов. Или другими словами, они изменяют способ вывода изображения на экран. Является ли это задачей для изготовителя телевизора? Конечно, нет, считает автор петиции. Он говорит: «Представьте себе, что в отправленное вами письмо кто-то, открыв его, вставляет дополнительные слова». <br /><br />Независимо от замыслов и аргументации автора, актуальность этой петиции можно считать востребованной в эпоху все более массовой подмены реальных жизненных ценностей суррогатами в искусстве, общественной и  материальной жизни.
