Вслед за Sony, впервые выпустившей эту технологию на телевизионный рынок в прошлом году, в нынешнем сезоне уже несколько китайских компаний объявили о предстоящих продажах подобных моделей ЖК телевизоров, качество изображения которых будет очень высоким, по утверждениям производителей, вплоть до сравнимости с картинкой OLED. <br /><br />Вслед за конкурентами, корейские компании Samsung и LG  планируют вывести на рынок телевизоры с квантовыми  точками в следующем году, которые, как они говорят, будут более экономически выгодной альтернативой OLED телевизорам. <br /><br />Есть сообщения, что технология квантовых точек по экологическим соображениям считается рискованной из-за использования кадмия. Тем не менее, Samsung и LG собираются использовать вариант технологии без использования этого металла.
