Представленный на выставке образец первого в мире телевизора в формате 8К  уже полностью соответствовал всем высоким требованиям японского ТВ стандарта будущего поколения Super Hi-Vision.<br /><br />Первый в мире 85-дюймовый ЖК телевизор с поддержкой разрешения 8K Sharp и NHK впервые представили в мае 2011 года. С тех пор, Sharp продолжает совершенствование и подготовку к массовому производству ЖК телевизоров супер высокого разрешения, с поддержкой повышенной частоты кадров, расширенной цветовой гаммы и 22.2-канального звукового сопровождения. Sharp намерен наладить выпуск 8K телевизоров до начала в Японии телевещания в стандарте Super Hi-Vision в 2018 году.
