Такой экран включает примерно 8 миллионов пикселей, что в четыре раза больше, чем у формата Full HD. На практике это означает, что при увеличении картинка не расплывается на пиксели, а остается довольно четкой. Кроме того, новые телевизоры получили поддержку 3D.<br /><br />Соотношение сторон составляет 16:9, динамический контраст – свыше миллиона, а углы обзора – 176 градусов. Новые 4К телевизоры серии S9 обязаны качеством отображения контента не только Ultra HD формату, но и ряду фирменных технологий Sony. Так, TRILUMINOS Display обеспечивает максимально естественную цветопередачу, чего удалось добиться заменой подсветки обычными светодиодами с белым свечением на элементы на базе квантовых точек.<br /><br />Процессор X-Reality PRO отвечает за апскейлинг, то есть за масштабирование низкокачественного контента до формата 4к. Он анализирует входной сигнал, и, если тот соответствует FullHD, запускается система шумоподавления, затем посредством алгоритма 2K Super Resolution повышается резкость картинки и проводится калибровка. Следующий шаг – проверка цветопередачи: процессор сглаживает все неестественные оттенки. Последний штрих – повышение качества контента до 4К. Таким образом, даже при просмотре фильмов в не самом высоком разрешении, зрителю гарантирована реалистичность и глубина красок.<br /><br />Другой процессор – X-Tended Dynamic Range – отвечает за уровень подсветки изображения: темные и светлые участки картинки приобретают больше насыщенности, что особенно заметно при просмотре ночных сцен. Технология Motionflow XR 400 Гц позволяет улучшить сцены с динамичной сменой кадров, повысив резкость за счет встраивания между привычными кадрами промежуточных, созданных программно.<br /><br />Устройства получили 4.2-канальную систему Multi-angle Live Speaker, с использованием небольших разнонаправленных  динамиков. За навигацию по меню отвечает сенсорный пульт.<br /><br />Телевизоры серии S9 предполагают подключение к домашней локальной сети DLNA, работают с NFC и Wi-Fi, поддерживают функцию Screen Mirroring, с помощью которой на большом экране можно транслировать контент с гаджета. Новый телевизор SONY KD-65S9005B с изогнутым экраном и высочайшим разрешением уже доступен для предварительного заказа у некоторых розничных продавцов и на сайте  Sony за 199999 р.
