Это первая модель из нового поколения 4K телевизоров Philips 8800. UHD телевизор с размером экрана 55 дюймов (139,7 см) работает под управлением операционной системы Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean. Кроме того, в телевизоре имеется фирменная система подсветки Philips Ambilight (3-х сторонняя версия).<br /><br />По заявлению производителя, качество изображения Philips 55PUS8809 как минимум не хуже, что у модели 65PFL9708. В телевизоре технологии: 1000 Гц PMR, Perfect Pixel HD Engine Ultra и система локального затемнения. Philips 55PUS8809 позволяет воспроизводить UHD видео с кадровой частотой до 60 Гц. Обновленная технология Ambilight 3 отличается более оперативной реакцией на смену экранного изображения.<br /><br />55PUS8809 поддерживает активную 3D технологию с затворными очками. Конечно, имеется конвертор 2D в 3D. Также поддерживается игровой режим "Dual Play". Двойной тюнер DVB-T / T2 / C / S / S2 позволит записывать телепрограммы и параллельно просматривать другие телеканалы. Philips 55PUS8809 позволяет использовать для управления голосовые команды и жестыб что стало возможным благодаря встроенной камере под экраном.<br /><br />Новый Philips 55PUS8809 будет продаваться за 2299 евро с октября. В дальнейшем серии планируется выпуск UHD моделей в серии 8800  и других моделей.
