В рамках прошедшего на SID 2014 в начале июня показа для специалистов Sony представила новую разработку в виде 0,23-дюймовой OLED панели.<br /><br />Новая дисплейная панель отличается серьезно улучшенными параметрами в сравнении с 0,5-дюймовой OLED панелью, представленной Sony на SID 2012 и используемой в видеокамерах и персональных видеосистемах Sony сегодня, говорится в сообщении компании. <br /><br />На дисплее с диагональю в 0,23 дюйма умещается 640 х 480 пикселей с шагом 7.8 мкм. Охват  цветовой гаммы 110% по стандартам NTSC. В частности, компания улучшила коэффициент контрастности с 10000:1 до 100000 : 1, максимальная яркость повышена с 200 до 800 кд / кв. м, а потребление энергии снижено с 440 до 140 мВт. Расширены углы обзора, так что новый дисплей можно рассматривать под углом до 70 ° (20 ° по вертикали), без потери в качестве изображения.<br /><br />Чтобы добиться такого серьезного усовершенствования Sony сильно изменила форму и размещение субпикселей, используя красный (R), зеленый (G) и синий (B) цветные фильтры.  Субпиксели R и G имеют форму квадрата в то время как субпиксели B  - в форме вертикально-вытянутого прямоугольника.
