Однако в течение последних лет этот разрыв удалось сократить, и теперь многие ЖК LED  телевизоры лучше передают темные оттенки. При этом удается избежать характерных для плазменных телевизоров недостатков, например, более высокого энергопотребления.<br /> <br />Новые технологии Sony, выпущенные в 2014 году — Extended Dynamic Range (XDR) и Extender Dynamic Range Pro (XDR PRO) обеспечивают воспроизведение более глубоких темных и более ярких светлых тонов, а также обеспечивают улучшенную цветопередачу: XDR обеспечивает расширенный в два раза диапазон яркости, а XDR PRO расширяет его в три раза, в сравнении с обычными телевизорами. <br /> <br />Технология Peak LED Boost затемняет подсветку во время темных сцен, чтобы темные оттенки стали более насыщенными. Благодаря уникальному алгоритму работы подсветки телевизор более ярко воспроизводит светлые оттенки на экране.
