С июля 2014 года телевизоры Sony будут производиться дочерней компанией. При этом упор будет сделан на модели высокого класса с разрешением  Ultra HD (4K), многие из которых были представлены на выставке CES в январе нынешнего года.<br /><br />Sony сосредоточится на увеличении доли продаж моделей высокого класса и планирует укрепить свои лидирующие позиции на рынке 4K путем совершенствования выпускаемых моделей. А также будет выпускать Full HD телевизоры с расширенной цветовой гаммой и усовершенствованной системой видео обработки, говорится в заявлении компании.<br /><br />Первый план повышения рентабельности в ТВ бизнесе был представлен в ноябре 2011 года. С тех пор, убытки от телевизионного подразделения, которые составляли 147, 5 млрд. иен ($1,4 млрд.) на 31 марта 2012 г. - сократились до 69,6 млрд. иен ($679 млн. ) в 2013 году, и, как ожидается, снизятся примерно до 25 млрд иен ($244 млн.) в период до марта 2014 года.<br /><br />Генеральный директор компании Sony, Казуо Хираи, говорит, что не рассматриваются планы об отказе от телевизионного бизнеса, нет оснований к тому что он разделит участь компьютерного подразделения Sony. "Мы начинаем видеть пути для изменения в нашем ТВ бизнесе", говорит он. "Телевизоры остаются важной категорией для Sony."<br /><br />В настоящее время на долю Sony приходится 75 % японского рынке Ultra HD телевизоров, компания утверждает, что в прошлом году стала первой по продажам 4К телевизоров в США.
