В течение последних двух лет Sony планировала  избавиться от подразделения, которое в последнее время испытывало серьезное давление со стороны южнокорейских конкурентов с их более дешевой продукцией. <br /><br />Сегодня Sony надеется на благоприятное изменение рыночной и финансовой  ситуации благодаря слабому курсу иены и растущему спросу на батареи к портативной электронике. <br /><br />В начале этого года правительство пыталось посредничать в продаже батарейного бизнеса Sony совместному предприятию Nissan Motor и NEC. Однако, переговоры зашли в тупик и Sony сообщила, что сохраняет за собой подразделение по производству аккумуляторных батарей и будет развивать его как основной бизнес, сообщает Nikkei со ссылкой на неназванные источники.
