Обновление выполняется за счет смены  программной прошивки. Однако из четырех входов HDMI, только один будет соответствовать требованиям HDMI 2.0, остальные остаются HDMI 1.4. <br /><br />Новая прошивка первоначально будет доступна в Японии и, вероятно, через несколько дней или даже недель появится в Европе и Америке.<br />В Японии  готовится к выходу обновление и для более дешевой серии телевизоров Sony X8.
