В дополнение или взамен к существующим плазменной и жидкокристаллической технологиям прочат, в первую очередь, технологию органических светодиодов (OLED). Однако есть и другие перспективные принципы создания телевизоров на основе самосветящихся точек (пикселей).<br /><br /><div align="center"><!--dle_image_begin:http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/2013-09/1379607131_quantum-dot2.jpg|--><img src="http://www.hdtv.ru/uploads/posts/2013-09/1379607131_quantum-dot2.jpg" alt="Квантовые точки – будущее телевизоров высокой четкости" title="Квантовые точки – будущее телевизоров высокой четкости"  /><!--dle_image_end--></div><br /><br />Одной из наиболее многообещающих является технология квантовых точек (англ. quantum dot (QD)), в телевизорах <a href="http://www.hdtv.ru/articles/13641-sony-triluminos.html" >Sony Triluminos</a> использованы квантовые точки в системе подсветки ЖК панели, что обеспечивает расширенную цветовую палитру. Цвет свечения этих наноразмерных структур зависит лишь от их размеров. Это означает, что на основе одного материала можно изготовить весь дисплей (состоящий из красного, зеленого и синего излучателей), уменьшая производственные затраты. Другое преимущество технологии заключается в том, что это экологически чистый материал и не содержит редкоземельных металлов, которые повышают стоимость. <br /><br />Самое обнадеживающее в том, что все больше производителей сегодня проявляют интерес к исследованиям и реализации квантовых точек в телевизионных дисплеях.
