Стандарт Mobile High-Definition Link (MHL) позволяет подключать определенные типы смартфонов, планшетов и других устройств к телевизору с помощью адаптеров, которые подключаются к порту микро USB. Но консорциум MHL только что объявил, что обновленный стандарт MHL 3.0 будет поддерживать видео в разрешении 4K на внешних дисплеях. Это позволит мобильным устройствам, которые поддерживают стандарт вывода 3840 × 2160 (также известный как 2160p) выводить видео со скоростью до 30 кадров в секунду.

Обновленный стандарт может одновременно передавать данные и видео, а устройства, подключенные через MHL, могут потреблять до 10 Вт для зарядки и питания. Обеспечена обратная совместимость с MHL версий 1.x и 2.x, поддержка HDCP 2.2 и 7.1-канального звука.

Новый стандарт намерены поддержать множество компаний включая Nokia, Samsung, Toshiba, Sony и Silicon Image.
