Позднее к альянсу присоединились такие компании как Toshiba, Qualcomm и MStar, в результате сейчас многие из «новых» приложений на телевизорах LG, Philips и Toshiba являются кроссплатформенными, а процедура запуска приложений у всех  трех брендов значительно упрощена.<br /><br />В рамках крупнейшей выставки потребительской электроники CES 2013 был продемонстрирован новый универсальный комплект программного обеспечения для разработки ТВ приложений – SDK, который поддерживает множество дополнений и расширений, включая функции передачи данных через интернет (например, для разработки интегрированных сервисов со смартфонами, веб-сервисами и электронными платежами), расширенную MPEG-поддержку, которая крайне важна для VoD и мультимедийных сервисов. Также новые SDK позволят использовать более широкий спектр функций HTML5, CSS3 и j&#097;vascript спецификаций.<br /><br />Обновленный SDK будет опубликован в свободном доступе на сайте альянса (http://www.smarttv-alliance.org) в скором времени.<br />
