На предстоящей январской выставке CES 2013 все производители будут называть телевизоры с повышенным разрешением UDTV вместо 4K. <br /><br />Такая формальность имеет определенное значение в связи с неприемлемостью обозначения «4К» для некоторых японских компаний в силу национальных традиций и возникающем при этом «разнобое» в обозначениях. Можно даже вообразить что решение CEA было пролоббировано компанией Panasonic, которая пропустила 4-ю серию телевизоров, перейдя с третьей серии сразу на пятую.<br /><br />"Новая терминология и рекомендуемые атрибуты помогут потребителям лучше ориентироваться на рынке, чтобы найти телевизор, который наилучшим образом отвечает их потребностям", сказал президент и исполнительный директор CEA Гэри Шапиро в пресс-релизе.<br /><br />Чтобы квалифицироваться, как Ultra HD, экран должен иметь разрешение не менее 3840 пикселей по горизонтали и, по крайней мере, 2160 пикселей по вертикали, при соотношении сторон кадра 16:9. Кроме того, продукт должен иметь, как минимум, один цифровой вход с поддержкой разрешения 4K и возможность отображения в разрешении 4K без повышающего масштабирования. Таким образом, проекторы JVC c технологией е-Shift 2 не могут относиться к классу UHD. <br /><br />Сейчас есть лишь несколько продуктов, которые обозначаются на рынке как 4K, в том числе проектор Sony VPL-VW1000ES. Но на данный момент для покупателя нет никаких 4K источников, за исключением выхода с компьютера и одного 4K фильма. Ultra HD технология, как ожидается, займет видное место в следующем году на выставке CES , которая будет проходить  8-11 января в Лас-Вегасе.
