Телевизоры HX950 являются преемниками прошлогодних HX920 / HX929 и обладают полным массивом LED источников, расположенных позади ЖК панели, что позволяет оперативно управлять световым потоком и значительно улучшать глубину черного цвета. Новая система управления подсветкой называется Intelligent Peak LED. Но, неизвестно пока, на сколько зон локального затемнения разбит управляемый LED массив. Система Motionflow XR800 (XR960 в США) должна улучшить воспроизведение динамичных сцен. Телевизор поддерживает систему активного 3D и сеть Sony Entertainment с музыкальными и видео сервисами. Встроенная акустика обеспечивает звуковую мощность 2 x 10 ватт.
