Российская компания Триколор ТВ стала третьим в мире оператором спутникового ТВ по количеству абонентов, добиться чего удалось во многом благодаря крайне низким тарифам.

В 2005 г. Триколор ТВ стал первым негосударственным ТВ оператором, предложившим бесплатный пакет телеканалов. Стоимость годовой подписки на пакет, включающий на сегодняшний день более 100 телеканалов, остаётся неизменной с 2007 г. и составляет 600 руб.

Сегодня ряд ТВ операторов обвиняют Триколор ТВ в демпинговой ценовой политике, которую компания ведет за счет заработков от косвенной продажи оборудования и получения привилегий от телеканалов.

Считается, что владельцем Триколор является, президент корпорации General Satellite – производитель используемых для приема Триколор телеприставок. Во-вторых, Триколор добилась привилегированных условий покупки прав на трансляцию телеканалов. Некоторые каналы могут обходиться Триколор ТВ дешевле, чем конкурентам, а некоторые вообще бесплатно.

В письме ТВ операторов, возмущенных политикой Триколора, речь идет, в частности,о новом тарифе «Триколор ТВ Full HD», который за 900 руб. в год (75 руб. в месяц) предоставляет доступ к 160 российским и зарубежным каналам (в том числе 25 каналов — в HD качестве). У конкурентов похожие пакеты программ намного дороже.
