Затея с оживлением рынка за счет внедрения 3D технологии, можно сказать, провалилась, нынешняя компания по рекламе смарт функциональности новых моделей тоже, очевидно, не даст ожидаемой отдачи.<br /><br />Мировые ТВ продажи в 1 квартал 2012 года упали почти на 8 %, самое большое падение со второго квартала 2009 года. Продажи ЖК телевизоров упали на 3%, еще хуже ситуация с плазмами. Падение в первом квартале составило 18 %, после 8% снижения в четвертом квартале 2011 года.<br /><br />Ситуацию усугубляют экономические проблемы в развитых странах и недоступность плоскопанельных телевизоров для жителей развивающихся стран.<br /><br />В тоже время отмечается постепенное повышение спроса на телевизоры с большими размерами экранов. Рыночная доля телевизоров с экраном более 40 дюймов увеличилась с менее чем 31 % год назад до более 37 %.<br /><br />Отмечается, что причиной недостаточного спроса является насыщение рынка плоскопанельными телевизорами и недостаточно быстрое снижение их стоимости. Несмотря на официальные заявления о падении цен на  20-30% в год, более реальным показателем является  5-10%. А в США, оказывается, ЖК телевизоры с декабря 2011 года стали в среднем дороже на 11,4 %, причиной тому можно считать увеличение доли высокотехнологичных моделей.
