Многие сегодня считают, что плазменные HDTV обречены на вымирание и одной из причин является т. н. эффект остаточного изображения (выгорания - burn-in). Хотя он и не страшен при нормальных условиях  просмотра и самоустраняется со временем, в лаборатории cnet, все таки решились на реальное тестирование по этому параметру. Для чего договорились с производителями о предоставлении опытных образцов. В сравнении участвовали плазмы: Panasonic GT50 и VT50,  Samsung PS60E6500. В это время экран является наиболее уязвимым для остаточного изображения.
