По словам источника (источник: Engadget), провайдер в настоящее время проводит тестирование для оценки впечатления телезрителей от перехода с HD на 4К, с тем чтобы определить целесообразность инвестиций при переходе на повышенное разрешение. <br /><br />Вы можете спросить, как можно транслировать 4K сигнал, когда даже Full HD иногда сжимают до 720p из-за ограничений по пропускной способности каналов связи. Источник сообщает, что видеосигнал 4К попросту ужимают до необходимого уровня, определяемого существующими каналами. Источник отказался назвать компанию, но заявил, что это один из основных провайдеров, которые полностью контролируют весь технологический процесс телевизионных трансляций, что может означать компании Sky или Virgin. <br /><br />Из этого сообщения можно сделать лишь вывод, что 4К уже становится очередной маркетинговой приманкой.
