В графеновых транзисторах подвижность электронов будет в 200 раз выше, в сравнении с кремниевыми, что позволит увеличить быстродействие и качество работы электронных устройств. <br /><br />Основная проблема при использовании графена состоит в том, что, в отличие от обычных полупроводниковых материалов, ток не может быть полностью отключен, потому что это полу-металлический материал. А без полного отключения потока электронов невозможна реализация цифровых схем, где используется лишь два состояния – Включено/Выключено (1/0). <br /><br />Ранее исследователи пытались конвертировать графен в полупроводниковый материал. Однако это радикально снижает подвижность электронов, что сразу снижает возможности графеновых транзисторов.<br /><br />Институт передовых технологий Samsung разработал устройство на основе графена, в котором можно отключать ток, не снижая подвижность электронов. Новое устройство – аналог полупроводникового транзистора  назвали Barristor, в связи с тем, что при переключении состояний Включено/Выключено используется эффект изменения высоты электронного барьера.
