Первым в мире 4-х терабайтным диском стал Ultrastar 7K4000, который будет также производиться в 2 ТБ и 3 ТБ вариантах в 3,5 дюймовом корпусе со скоростью вращения дисков 7200 об/мин. Дисковые накопители Ultrastar 7K4000 будут иметь 64 МБ кэш, а максимальная скорость обмена данными составляет 171 МБ/c. Новые диски Hitachi способны работать при температурах от -40 до +70 градусов цельсия. Время наработки на отказ составляет 2 млн. часов, компания дает на новые диски 5 летнюю гарантию.<br /><br />Новые дисковые накопители Hitachi Ultrastar 7K4000 уже доступны в продаже, но пока в ограниченном количестве.<br /><br />Компания Hitachi недавно вошла в состав не менее известного американского производителя жестких дисков - Western Digital.<br />
