После падения спроса на ЖК дисплеи и телевизоры новейший завод в Сакаи на западе Японии стоимостью более $ 4 млрд. работает на 50 процентов своих мощностей. Предполагается, что убытки Sharp составят $3,5 млрд. <br /><br />Sharp более половины своих телевизоров продает в Японии. Его подразделение потребительской электроники в основном производит телевизоры и дает около половины из общего объема доходов.<br /><br />Новый президент - 58 летний Такаши Окуда пришел в Sharp в 1978 году. Окуда заявил, что Sharp не намерен отказываться от производства телевизоров, а аналитики предполагают, что Sharp попытается увеличить продажи своих панелей сторонним производителям HDTV. Другое перспективное направление деятельности компании – телевизоры и панели с очень большими экранами, производство которых Sharp уже хорошо освоил.<br />
