После завершения трудного для Sony 2011 года новый президент компании Kaz Hirai начал свою деятельность с пересмотра основных приоритетов развития. В конце прошлого года был утвержден аналогичный план из семи пунктов. Нынешний ужат до четырех, и возможно стал более конкретным.

Так, Sony планирует инвестировать значительные средства в развитие OLED технологии и доведение до промышленных образцов демонстрировавшейся на выставке модели полного LED телевизора, который компания называет Crystal LED и который представляет по существу аналог OLED, где вместо органических диодов-пикселей используются более привычные, но миниатюрные обычные LED источники.

Отдельным пунктом отмечена необходимость ускорения инноваций, с тем, чтобы разработки быстрее воплощались в реальные товары. Другой пункт программы предусматривает пересмотр уж очень многопрофильной деятельности компании и отказ от направлений, которые не дают прибыли.
