В начале этого года Sony уступила Samsung свою долю на совместном заводе по производству ЖК панелей по технологии PVA. <br /><br />По сообщению  Korea Times  LG сейчас увеличивает производство ЖК панелей на своем корейском предприятии, тогда как Samsung не получил предполагаемого заказа от Sony. Таким образом, теперь ЖК телевизоры Sony будут воспроизводить несколько иную по качественным параметрам картинку, в частности обретут немного расширенные углы обзора, чем отличаются панели типа IPS, устанавливаемые сегодня также в ЖК телевизоры Philips и Panasonic . А при просмотре 3D фильмов можно будет обойтись недорогими очками поляризационного типа, закупив их для всей семьи и друзей.
