Имеющаяся технология может обеспечить 500 гигабайт емкости в стандартном размере оптического диска. Теоретически имеется возможность совместимости с Blu-ray дисками.<br /><br />Конечная цель исследований –  микро-голографические диски, которые смогут хранить несколько терабайт данных. Хотя исследования GE изначально ориентирована на коммерческое использование, последние достижения микро-голографический технологии могут быть реализованы и для широкого потребительского рынка.<br />
