Ранее на этом месте висел точно такой же, но выполненный на основе LCD технологии, на котором показывалась карта земной поверхности с метеорологической обстановкой.<br /><br />Сейчас крупнейшие производители уже готовятся к  массовому производству 50-ти дюймовых OLED панелей для телевизоров. А Mitsubishi пошла несколько по другому пути,  вначале научилась делать из маленьких OLED панелей практически бесшовные громадные экраны и практически любой формы.<br /><br />Новый дисплей в виде глобуса состоит из 10362 OLED панелей размером 96x96 мм и разрешением 32х32 пикселя. Компания делает и несколько большие OLED панели, например, 384x384 мм с разрешением 128x128.
