После этих сделок мировой рынок HDD накопителей оказался поделенным между тремя основными производителями.  В большую тройку кроме Seagate и Western Digital, входит японская Toshiba. <br /><br />Как считают некоторые аналитики, подобный расклад будет способствовать снижению конкуренции и стабилизации цен, и положительно отразится на качестве продукции. <br /><br />Samsung от сделки получает 1 375 млрд. долларов США, которые оплатит Seagate наполовину акциями и наполовину денежными средствами, один из топ-менеджеров Samsung войдет в совет директоров Seagate. <br /><br />Согласно соглашению о поставках жестких дисков, теперь для продукции Samsung их будет поставлять Seagate. В свою очередь Samsung будет поставлять Seagate чипы NAND flash памяти, в  разработке и производстве которых Samsung является одним из лидеров, и которые широко используются в твердотельных и гибридных накопителях.<br />
