Фирменная аудиотехнология  Sony Virtualphones позволяет добиться от стереосигнала имитации объемного звука многоканального формата  5.1 или даже 7.1. Имеется функция автонастройки и возможность перехода к обычному стереозвуку.<br /><br />Аппаратный декодер поддерживает звуковые технологии Dolby Digital, Dolby Pro Logic IIx, DTS и DTS ES. В блоке передатчика имеется аналоговый вход и оптический, с соответствующим кабелем в комплекте. Sony MDR-DS6500 воспроизводят звук в диапазоне частот от 12 Гц до 22 кГц.
