Компания смогла достичь плотности записи в 1 терабайт на пластину. Ранее рекордным показателем были 3-х терабайтные диски, в которых размещались четыре 750 МБ пластины.<br /><br />Теперь же Samsung сможет начать производство для компьютеров  4 терабайтных HDD, на основе четырех пластин, и 2 ТБ 2,5 дюймовых для ноутбуков,  с двумя пластинами. Аналогичные модели могут быть представлены и в виде внешних накопителей с USB интерфейсом.<br /><br />Представители Samsung заявили, что в будущем можно будет получить и 10 терабайтные HDD.
