Подобные микросхемы совместно  с гибкими дисплеями могут стать основой сворачиваемых в трубочку телевизоров, для которых осталось разработать лишь гибкие батерейки.<br /><br />Первый гибкий процессор вмещает 4000 транзисторов и по эффективности соответствует использовавшимся для создания первых персональных компьютеров чипам 70-х годов прошлого века. Несмотря на то, что это только первые опытные экземпляры ученые все же не обещают в будущем гибких компьютеров. Гибкие процессоры по работоспособности не смогут  сравниться с современными кремниевыми чипами с миллионами транзисторов. Однако они имеют целый ряд преимуществ и смогут удачно дополнять традиционные производительные чипы. Например, стоимость производства гибких микросхем примерно в 10 раз ниже, чем традиционных полупроводниковых.  <br />
