Продукты Siliсon Systems были ориентированы в первую очередь на промышленный сегмент, встраиваемые приложения, а также такие отрасли, как медицинская, военная, аэрокосмическая. <br /><br />Судя по всему, WD не стала проводить коренные реформы в новоиспеченном подразделении – анонсированная линейка SSD от Western Digital SiliconDrive III традиционно для всей серии SiliconDrive направлена на профессиональное применение. <br /><br />Модельный ряд представлен 1.8" и 2.5" накопителями с интерфейсом SATA и 2.5" моделями, оснащенными более медленным PATA, емкостью от 30 до 120 Гб. Новинки не являются откровением в плане скорости чтения/записи (100/80 Мб/c у моделей с SATA и 80/60 Мб/c для SSD, основанных на PATA) и позиционируются в первую очередь, как надежное, отказоустойчивое решение. Стабильность и долговечность новых SSD подкрепляется технологиями PowerArmor (предотвращает порчу накопителя в результате сбоев электропитания), SiSmart (корректно прогнозирует "срок жизни" диска) и SolidStor (сохраняет целостность данных). <br /><br />Помимо сотрудничества с наработанной клиентской базой SiS, Western Digital планирует продвижение новых SSD на рынке комплектующих для дата-центров и систем управления мультимедийным контентом. <br /><br />На продукцию дается пятилетняя гарантия производителя. Сообщается, что поставки новых SSD уже начались. Информации о цене пока нет. <br />
