Новый чип предлагает на 30% более высокую производительность в расчете на ватт потребляемой мощности по сравнению с решениями предыдущего поколения. Общая производительность увеличена на 40-50%. <br /><br />Чип может соединяться группами по два, четыре или восемь процессоров в одном сервере, поддерживает технологию управления электропитанием AMD-P и технологию виртуализации AMD-V. Процессор имеет встроенный контроллер оперативной памяти DDR2. В компании сообщили, что поддержку DDR3 добавят в следующем году. <br /><br />Компания также выпустила два новых двухъядерных чипа для настольных пользовательских систем: AMD Athlon II X2 250 и AMD Phenom II X2 550 Black Edition. Первый чип выполнен на базе 45-нм технологии и рассчитан на потребителей со средними запросами, второй рассчитан на энтузиастов технологий.
