Более полутора десятков известных компаний сформировали альянс Wireless Gigabit (WiGig), задачей которого является разработка нового стандарта беспроводной связи ближнего радиуса, обеспечивающего высокую пропускную способность канала передачи данных. <br /><br />Новый стандарт, как сообщается, будет использовать нелицензируемый частотный диапазон 60 ГГц и обеспечит возможность обмена информацией между устройствами на гигабитных скоростях. Иными словами, пропускная способность канала связи вырастет как минимум в десять раз по сравнению с широко распространенными сегодня технологиями беспроводной передачи данных. <br /><br />Предполагается, что стандарт WiGig будет использоваться для связи компонентов домашних развлекательных систем, персональных компьютеров, гаджетов и пр. Радиус действия беспроводной сети, основанной на новой технологии, будет ограничен несколькими метрами: разработчики обещают возможность покрытия в пределах комнаты. <br /><br />В состав альянса WiGig вошли такие известные компании, как Broadcom, Dell, Intel, LG Electronics, Microsoft, NEC, Nokia, Panasonic, Samsung и др. <br /><br />Первый вариант спецификации WiGig может быть готов ближе к концу года. О предполагаемых сроках коммерциализации технологии ничего не сообщается.<br />
