Texas Instruments обещает поддержку HD-видео для смартфонов

Американский поставщик микропроцессоров Texas Instruments анонсировал новый процессор для мобильных телефонов – OMAP 4. Анонс был сделан на выставке Mobile World Congress в Барселоне. TI OMAP 4 – это новый центральный процессор для смартфонов, обладающий двумя вычислительными ядрами ARM Cortex A9. Он способен обрабатывать видео высокой четкости с разрешением 1920 x 1080 пикселей (1080p). При чем это касается как захвата, так и воспроизведения. Кроме того, к процессору может быть подключена интегрированная в смартфон камера с разрешением до 20 МП.

Ядра могут работать на тактовой частоте выше 1 ГГц. По данным производителя, новый процессор OMAP предлагает в 7 раз большую вычислительную мощность и обеспечивает в 10 раз более высокую скорость обработки веб-страниц по сравнению с процессорами OMAP текущего поколения. Новый чип также в 10 раз быстрее обрабатывает графику.

Поставки пробных образцов OMAP 4 планируется начать во II половине 2009 г., а массовое производство – во II половине 2010 г.

Кроме того, вендор сообщил, что процессоры текущего поколения OMAP 3 теперь изготавливаются на 45-нм технологии. Тестовые поставки еще одного нового чипа – OMAP36x – начнутся в III квартале 2009 г. Он будет оснащен графическим ускорителем 3D-графики, сможет обрабатывать видео с разрешением 720p и сигнал с 12-МП камер. Тактовая частота составит до 1 ГГц.
