Массовым производством чипов RV740 займется тайваньский контрактный производитель TSMC в конце I квартала будущего года, сообщает DigiTimes со ссылкой на китайское издание Commercial Times. <br /><br />Примерно к этому времени разработку графических процессоров с 40-нм транзисторами закончит главный конкурент AMD на данном рынке, компания Nvidia. Предполагается, что ее чипы нового поколения GT212 будут запущены в массовое производство чуть позже – во II квартале 2009 г. В настоящий момент оба вендора используют 55-нм технологию. <br /><br />Что же касается AMD RV740, ожидается, что новый чип будет содержать 640 вычислительных ядер и поддерживать память GDDR5 со 128-битным интерфейсом. Однако такая память будет использоваться не во всех продуктах. Первая видеокарта с новым процессором будет выпущена под брендом ATI. Цена пока неизвестна.<br />
