AU Optronics снижает энергопотребление ЖК-панелей

Представители AU Optronics (AUO) заявили, что запущенная в массовое производство во 2 квартале 2008 года новая 32-дюймовая жидкокристаллическая ТВ-панель потребляет на 50% меньше электроэнергии по сравнению с традиционными панелями того же размера.

В AUO объясняют, что такого снижения энергопотребления удалось добиться за счет снижения количества флуоресцентных ламп с холодным катодом (CCFL) с 16 до 4 трубок. Кроме того, содержание ртути в каждой лампе было снижено на 82%. Также в компании заявляют, что помимо использования специальных CCFL-ламп AUO планирует использовать LED-подсветку в качестве еще одной энергосберегающей технологии для своих ЖК-панелей. К 2010 году специалисты AUO планируют перевести на LED-подсветку все производимые компанией панели для ноутбуков.
